Calcite
Snake Hill (Laurel Hill), New Jersey, USA
Calcite (hematite-coated). Longest crystal 1.5 cm
Snake hill was an isolated igneous hill in the meadowlands of northeastern NJ. It was completely leveled by quarrying, but in the process many interesting minerals were found. It is not far from an old clay pit in Moonachie where I have taken my family to collect clay concretions. (Author: John Medici)
